Software Translation of a Team Collaboration System
Software Translation – Project Brief:
Argos Multilingual was commissioned to complete software translation and localization for an engineering project dealing with a team collaboration system. The software’s GUI required localization along with engineering processing, resizing and compilation of final files, all into Japanese.
The project involved translating 32 000 words of content, excluding 57 000 words of 100% matches found via Trados. All of the content was in the form of software for civil engineers and designers offering a flexible 2D/3D tool for land development and site modeling. During the course of this assignment, a standard project process was applied:
- GUI translation, resizing and binaries compilation
- Client review
- Corrections
- Translation in binaries format reviewed by the client
- Final build approval
Because of the large scope of this software translation assignment, Argos attached 4 translators to perform all linguistic tasks while cooperating with our in-house Localization department in order to adapt the software strings. All in all, it took Argos 7 weeks (excluding 4 weeks required for client review and to perform a final build circle) to complete this assignment, meeting our client’s deadline and expectations.
